Pink Floyd Dark
I recently got the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of The Moon what other P.F. album is most similar?

I really like the mix of psychedellic riffs and jazzy basslines, as well as the crazy sound effects and variation from track to track on the album. I want to purchase another Floyd album but there are about 20 to pick from.

I have heard samples on amazon etc but can't tell from them which albums will have a similar feel to them. Does anyone know which period the Dark Side of the moon sound was in and which albums where originally made around the same time?

Well, you have the one before it, Meddle, and the one after, Wish You Were Here (I think...), both of which have similar elements.

Then you have the four well-knowns, which everyone thinks of when they think Pink Floyd. These are Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall.

Wish You Were Here probably has been heard by more people than any other; I think that I've heard every single song on it on the radio in some form.
Shine on You Crazy Diamond (in its full)
Wish You Were Here
Have A Cigar
Welcome to the Machine

Animals is a little angsty and government-hating, and you can pick out things that you hear in today's rock even back then. Don't let the 10+ minute songs scare you away.

Pigs On The Wing (Part 1 and 2)
Dogs
Pigs (Three different ones)
Sheep

The Wall is called by some their opus, nose to nose with Dark Side. The tracks flow together and their are many well-known songs.
Mother
Happiest Days of Our Lives/Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 (We don't need no education; usually played together)
Young Lust (I need a dirty woman, I need a dirty gal)
Hey You
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell

Meddle is full of songs never heard on the radio.
One of these Days (bass and bass and bass... very cool)
Pillow of Winds (a mellow, sweet piece)
Fearless (inspirational feel to it. Light.)
San Tropez (semi-cheesy, but fun. This is bluesy.)
Seamus (very, very bluesy. Dogs howling and a finger slide on the guitar. It makes me smile :D )
Echoes (the monstrous 24-minute long mega song. Don't even think of skipping it!)
