How can I take a good over-head portrait?
I have to put together a photo-album to take with me on my cultural exchange trip to Japan, and I'm really into my guitar. My idea was to take the chord of my electric guitar and use it to spell out my name or something, while I lay on the floor next to it, holding my guitar. The image in my head is awesome, but I'm not really sure how to go about taking it! I was thinking about getting a gorilla pod to bring with me anyways (I have an SLR and it exceeds the weight limit of most mini tripods) but even if I did get one, I'm not sure what I'd attach it to to take the picture. Also, I need some tips on lighting and what I should use as a backgound. I was thinking a solid white background. Any ideas?
Good idea about color- I was just thinking white so I could get maximum contrast between the cord and the background, but there's definitely nothing wrong with some color. Right now I'm just trying to figure out what material to use.
why not ask a friend for help? get all your settings done and have someone stand over you and take the shot. as far as the background.. i love color so why not go for a red background color?
